The building was originally the Isola d’Oro Hotel, now converted into private apartments. Despite the larger dimensions, the features perfectly matched Galvagni’s rich and original compositional lexicon: small terraces, inclined cornices, sequences of windows with differentiated architraves, and materials consistent with the language he developed.
The recent renovation of the building transformed it into apartments, erasing most of the original features: initially designed with four levels, it was intended to accommodate about 45 guests for seasonal stays.
The ground floor, with walls clad in rustic stone, distinctly stands out from the three upper floors due to its forward-shifted volume.
Originally, there were four protruding reinforced concrete walls on the main facade, likely intended to ensure adequate privacy from neighboring buildings and protection from the wind. in order to create a segmentation in the volume, providing a sense of horizontality that allowed the building to harmoniously integrate into the complex it is part of.
Balconies and windows facing the sea were designed in a shell shape to frame the landscape uniquely and the building had to be surrounded by gardens and usable terraces at different levels, equipped with large flower holders.
The only traces of the original elements designed by the architect can be found in old postcards and photos from that era.
