Torre del Mare Architectural Park - Bergeggi - Casa Jussi
Da Vedere
Construction: 1959-1961
Location: Via Caravaggio, 13, 17028 Bergeggi SV
Builder: Tizzoni
The house currently consists of two units, but originally it was a single house with access from the roof and corresponding parking space. The house bears similarities to 'Casa Adami', marked by exposed plaster structural walls, planters, and railings.
A unique feature of this house is the "corner slits" with opposing vertical projecting walls, containing vertical glazed openings that can be opened from the inside, allowing for peculiar views of the sea designed by the architect.
The exterior finishes include exposed reinforced concrete and klinker cladding.
The house structure is similar to continuous brick masonry with reinforced corners and central reinforced concrete pillars.
The floor slabs are made of reinforced brick, whereas the lamellar structures and triangular planters are left in concrete, and the wall cladding is in natural-colored klinker. These lamellar elements recur in the architect's glossary as shading elements that help mitigate the intense sunlight exposure given the villas' orientation.
The flooring was designed in wood and ceramic, with standard type interior plastering.
The two units are now connected by an internal spiral staircase: the upper unit consists of a kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom, totaling three usable rooms plus toilets; the lower unit consists of a living room, a kitchen, a bedroom, and a bathroom.
Above the retaining wall outside, "downhill from the house, a cantilevered reinforced concrete structure was built with seven triangular planters (now covered) projecting towards the blue sea, giving the building's base lightness and elegance," a characteristic element also seen in 'Casa Adami.'
