Torre del Mare Architectural Park- Bergeggi - Casa Mercalli
Da Vedere
Construction: 1957-1958
Location: Via Torre d’Ere, 21, 17028 Bergeggi SV
Builder: Tizzoni
The house is developed on two levels. The ground floor is clad in natural stone, while the upper parts are plastered; the balcony parapets are also plastered and interspersed with inclined sections that create hanging flower boxes, including on the flat roof balcony.
This house features another recurring theme in the architect's designs: The sequences of closely spaced openings (French doors) alternate with different lintel heights, highlighted by exterior ceilings above the openings to create a compositional aesthetic motif.
From the street, a vehicle gate allows direct access to the front garden, alongside a pedestrian gate.
The house has been subsequently expanded on the right side, which seems to blend with the original architecture.
The building materials include semi-solid bricks for the load-bearing walls and reinforced bricks for the attics, whereas the floors are mosaic, specifically Venetian-style. The exterior facades are partly clad in exposed stone and partly plastered with white marble dust.
There are three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, two toilets (one with a bathroom and sanitary facilities) and a garage, as the roof is designed as a non-walkable terrace with a solid masonry parapet.
