Torre del Mare Architectural Park - Bergeggi - Casa Beretta
Da Vedere
Construction: 1962-1963
Location: Via della Ginestra, 24, 17028 Bergeggi SV
Builder: Tizzoni
Situated along via della Ginestra, the house is developed over three levels.
From the street level, clad in natural stone, pedestrian access to the house is provided through two metal gates from below, where there are three garages.
The main dwelling, located on a single floor, includes a mezzanine portion made possible by the unique slope of the large inclined roof. The architecture is strongly characterized by a continuous sequence of full-height walls along the four sides of the volume; the spacious garden features also a swimming pool.
The structure is made of reinforced concrete with reinforced brick and concrete slabs, and unreinforced concrete closure walls for the basement levels and brick walls for the above-ground level; the upper parts of the partitions between rooms are made of glass to visually maintain the continuity of the ceiling.
The exterior cladding includes rustic stone, cement plaster, slate, and cut stone.
The interior floors are marble, wood, and Venetian-style, while the exterior floors are beola and quartzite; the windows frames are made of iron and exposed Douglas wood, whereas the interior plaster is of a standard type.
There are two service basement levels with a ceiling height of 2.10 meters and an above-ground residential floor with a mezzanine forming a gallery (living room). The lower basement level includes a garage for two or three cars and a staircase; the upper basement level includes the staircase, an atrium, a laundry room, a wardrobe, a cellar, and the heating room. The residential floor features a large living room with a kitchen separated from the living room only by a “cafeteria”, three bedrooms, and two bathrooms.
The basement measures approximately 70 square meters and the residential floor is 165 square meters (including walls).
The mezzanine above the living room has a total area of about 45 square meters, whereas the height of the residential rooms varies from a minimum of 2.40 meters in the bathrooms to a maximum of 5.00 meters.
The floor plan is square with two horizontal sides and two inclined sides that meet at the highest point of the roof (the roof thus consists of inclined planes that intersect at the inclined ridge coinciding with the diagonal of the floor plan), and the roof structure is formed by vertical and inclined ribs (with lamellae) supporting thin slabs.
